Description

Cape Henlopen SP is known for its pristine beaches, specifically its two lifeguarded designated swimming beaches. The park has nearby food and drink choices, showers, restrooms and a picnic pavilion. Golfing, basketball and hunting are permitted in some areas of the park. Hiking, swimming, camping, horseback riding and biking are also popular activities here. The park offers eight trails of different difficulty and beauty. Some of these trails can also be used for horseback riding and biking.

The Beach Trail: 4.6 miles- hiking and equestrian- easy to moderate.
Pinelands Trail: 2 miles- hiking- easy.
Seaside Nature Trail: 0.6 miles- hiking- easy.
Walking Dunes Trail: 1.6 miles- hiking and biking- easy.
Salt Marsh Spur: 0.6 miles- hiking and biking- easy.
Gordons Pond Trail: 2.75 miles- hiking and biking- easy to moderate.
Bike Loop Trail: 3 miles- shared use- easy to moderate.
Junction and Breakwater Trail: 5 miles- shared use- easy.

Directions

Ocean City, MD - 30 Miles Rehoboth Beach, DE - 7 Miles Baltimore, MD/Washington, DC/Philidelphia, PA 120 Miles Traveling South on DE Route 1, follow signs to US Route 9 East. Turn left onto Dartmouth Road to stop sign. Turn left again onto Route 9 East, Freeman Highway, traveling approximately 2.8 miles. Turn right onto Cape Henlopen Drive. Park entrance is approximately 1 mile past the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal.
